Providing Healthcare Services to Afghan Refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Healthcare is a critical aspect of humanitarian support for Afghan refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Project Directorate Health (PDH) of the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees KP is committed to ensuring that Afghan refugees have access to essential health services, fostering their well-being and resilience.

Our health facilities, strategically located within refugee villages (RVs), offer a range of basic health services. These facilities are gradually being integrated into sustainable community-based health models, ensuring continuity of care even as external support phases out. By linking refugee patients to nearby public health facilities, we aim to create a seamless healthcare network that benefits both refugees and host communities.

The PDH closely collaborates with the UNHCR, the Provincial Health Department, and other health partners to align our services with international standards. We focus on preventive healthcare, including vaccination programs facilitated through the Government Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). Regular coordination meetings with relevant UN agencies help us adapt to changing health needs and improve service delivery.

Our commitment extends to supporting the most vulnerable populations, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly. By ensuring access to quality healthcare, CAR KP contributes to the overall well-being and integration of Afghan refugees into the Pakistani health system.
