PROJECT DIRECTORATE HEALTH (PDH)

The Project Directorate Health (PDH) is responsible for providing essential health services to Afghan refugees living in Refugee Villages (RVs) across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The PDH is gradually converting existing health facilities into sustainable models and ensuring refugees can access nearby public health facilities through an efficient referral system.

Key aspects of the PDH’s approach include:

Supervising Health Implementing Partners:

Ensuring these partners deliver consistent and efficient health services to Persons of Concern (PoCs).

Following Directives:

Adhering to guidelines and procedures from the UNHCR, WHO, and the Government Health Department, aligning all activities with their objectives.

integration and Mainstreaming:

Supporting the integration of the Refugee Health program into the provincial health system, including facilitating vaccinations through the Government Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in collaboration with district health offices.

Referral System:

Linking daily patient turnout to the nearest government public health centers to ensure refugees receive the same level of healthcare as the local population.

Community Participation Model:

Encouraging community involvement in health facilities to enhance sustainability and effectiveness.

Coordination and Planning:

Holding regular meetings with UN agencies and relevant stakeholders to review and adapt activities in response to changing needs, ensuring continuous improvement of health services.

Access to Public Health Centers:

Guaranteeing that refugees have seamless access to nearby public health centers, integrating them into the broader public health infrastructure.

The PDH aims to ensure Afghan refugees receive equitable healthcare services and that the refugee health program is effectively integrated into the provincial health system. This approach addresses immediate healthcare needs and works towards long-term sustainability and integration of refugee health services.
