The Education Unit ensures Afghan refugees have optimal access to education. This includes monitoring and supporting primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in Refugee Villages (RVs) and urban areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Monitoring and Support:
Continuous oversight and assistance for schools serving Afghan refugees.
Rigorous evaluation of Afghan Refugee Schools managed by implementing partners (IPs).
Advocacy and Coordination:
Working with the Provincial Ministry of Education (MoE), Higher Education Commission (HEC), District Education Officers, and Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) to recognize school certificates and address equivalency issues.
Collaborating with universities (such as UET, University of Peshawar, and Khyber University) to facilitate admissions for Persons of Concern (PoCs).
Youth and Sports Development:
Establishing youth and sports committees and organizing various sports activities.
Providing a safe learning environment with co-curricular activities, career counseling, and sports.
Quality Education Access:
Ensuring Afghan refugees in RVs and urban clusters in KP receive quality education.
Strengthening coordination with IPs through rigorous monitoring and evaluation.
Education and Youth Development Cell (EYDC):
Guaranteeing access to education for refugees in RVs and urban areas.
Conducting advocacy sessions to streamline admission processes and support youth development.
Facilitating the certification and admission of Afghan refugee children into the national education system.
Mainstreaming and Support:
Helping refugee children in urban areas integrate into the national education system.
Supporting self-help schools run by the Afghan community through coordination with relevant organizations and agencies.
Awareness and Enrollment:
Holding sessions in RVs to raise awareness about the importance of education.
Identifying and re-enrolling out-of-school children through collaboration with IPs and OPs.
These initiatives aim to ensure Afghan refugees have equitable access to quality education, aiding their overall development and integration into the national education system.
