A two-day orientation workshop on “Building Bridges for Social Cohesion” was held at Hotel Elites, Nathiagali, on August 29-30, 2024, bringing together key stakeholders, including staff from CAR KP, CCAR, GIZ, and Sabawon. The workshop focused on orienting participants on GIZ’s “Building Bridges for Social Cohesion (BBSC)” project, with a focus on the Urban Cohesion Hub (UCH) in Peshawar and strengthening collaboration between BBSC and CAR, KP. It featured presentations, discussions, and consensus building on a coordination and steering structure to support Afghan refugees and host communities. Opportunities for synergy with other initiatives were identified with participants committing to ongoing collaboration.

In the closing remarks, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, KP Mr. Shakeel Muhammad Khan Safi emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to address the challenges faced by Afghan refugees and host communities. He praised the efforts of GIZ, CAR KP, and other stakeholders in promoting social cohesion and urged participants to maintain the momentum generated during the workshop.
