On October 15th, 2024, the 75th Session of the UNHCR Executive Committee (ExCom) was held in Geneva. Pakistan was represented by a delegation led by the Secretary SAFRON, Mr. Zafar Hasan, accompanied by Ambassador Mr. Zaman Mehdi, Joint Secretary SAFRON Mr. Agha Waseem Ahmad, Chief Commissioner for Afghan Refugees Mr. Muhammad Abbas Khan, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, KP Mr. Shakeel Muhammad Khan Safi and Counsellor Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Khan.
The Executive Committee convenes annually to review the work of the Standing Committee from the preceding year, approve UNHCR’s programmes and budget and advise on international protection. This important session serves as a platform to discuss global refugee issues and strengthen partnerships with intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
