On November 20, 2024, the Calligraphy & Photography Competition and Exhibition was successfully organized by the Education & Youth Development Cell (EYDC-CAR, KP) in collaboration with the Art & Design Department, University of Peshawar and HELVETAS Pakistan at PUTA Hall, Peshawar.
This vibrant event highlighted the talent of young artists who used the universal language of art to convey powerful messages of peace, unity and cultural understanding.
The event featured calligraphy pieces showcasing the beauty and power of words inspiring peace and resilience. Captivating photographs offered glimpses into the lives of Afghan refugees portraying their struggles and joys. Additionally, Afghan handicraft stalls beautifully displayed the rich culture and creativity of artisans, developing cultural exchange and connection.
We were honored to have Mr. Muhammad Abbas Khan, Chief Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, Islamabad as our Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Prof. Dr Naeem Qazi ,Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Ms. Heidi Herrmann, Project Manager at GIZ; Ms. Imrana Sami, Head of the Art & Design Department; Mr. Nadeem Bukhari, Project Manager, Helvetas; Mr. Farzand Wazir, Vice Chairperson, Pakistan Red Crescent Society ; representatives from UNHCR and members of various other organizations. Their inspiring words and support greatly enhanced the significance of the event.
The Chief Guests congratulated the artists for their remarkable efforts and presented cash prizes, shields and certificates to the participants recognizing their outstanding contributions.
This celebration of art not only highlighted creativity but also served as a platform to build bridges of understanding and solidarity across communities.
