On 20th June 2025, in celebration of World Refugee Day, the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees, KP in collaboration with Social Support for Vulnerable Afghan Refugees and Host Communities (SSARC) project of GIZ, successfully organized the “Kick for Unity” Female Taekwondo Tournament at Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar.
Young female Taekwondo players from the Afghan refugee and Pakistani host communities showcased their talent, discipline and confidence under the guidance of coaches promoting social cohesion, mental & physical well-being and gender equality.
Distinguished guests included Mr. Shakeel Muhammad Khan Safi, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, KP, Mr. Kofi Ohenenana Dwomo, Head of UNHCR Sub-office Peshawar, Ms. Imke Kottmann , International Consultant SSARC-GIZ and representatives from various partner organizations who joined to encourage and appreciate the young players. Shields, medals and certificates were distributed among all players recognizing their spirit and dedication.
