The Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (CAR KP) recognizes that sustainable livelihoods are key to the self-reliance and dignity of Afghan refugees. Our Community Development Unit (CDU) and Livelihood Desks are dedicated to empowering refugees through community-based protection and livelihood support programs.
The CDU focuses on fostering community self-sustainability within refugee villages (RVs) by promoting leadership roles among women and engaging refugees in decision-making processes. Our livelihood programs are designed on a self-help basis, encouraging refugees to utilize their skills and resources to improve their economic conditions.
We offer various training programs to enhance the skills of Afghan refugees, making them more competitive in the local labor market. Our efforts include linking refugees with public and private sector opportunities, planning and executing skill development programs, and supporting the local labor market by creating networks between service providers and Afghan labor.
The Refugees Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA) initiative further supports community empowerment through infrastructure development, social protection programs, and participatory decision-making processes. By addressing the needs of both refugees and host communities, RAHA promotes social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
Through these comprehensive efforts, CAR KP aims to create resilient and self-reliant refugee communities that contribute positively to their host society.
