The Community Development Unit (CDU) focuses on community-based protection activities to help refugees become self-sustaining and empowered.
Empowering Women:
Women are encouraged to participate in decision-making, peace-building, and leadership roles within their communities.
Addressing Protection Cases:
Multi-functional teams work on specific protection issues, with the CDU and partners providing legal and other support to refugee victims.
Promoting Self-Reliance:
Livelihood programs are promoted on a self-help basis to help refugees become economically independent.
Raising Awareness:
International Days are celebrated in refugee villages to increase community awareness and understanding.
Supporting Youth and Children:
Programs are designed to offer constructive activities for women, girls, and youth, and to protect unaccompanied and separated minors from exploitation and abuse.
Extending Programs:
The CDU extends its community-based protection activities to urban areas throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), in coordination with UNHCR.
Training and Involvement:
Training is provided to male and female committees, and community members participate in polio vaccination campaigns, sports competitions, and international day celebrations.
