COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT UNIT

The Community Development Unit (CDU) focuses on community-based protection activities to help refugees become self-sustaining and empowered.

Here are the main efforts of the CDU:

Empowering Women:

Women are encouraged to participate in decision-making, peace-building, and leadership roles within their communities.

Addressing Protection Cases:

Multi-functional teams work on specific protection issues, with the CDU and partners providing legal and other support to refugee victims.

Promoting Self-Reliance:

Livelihood programs are promoted on a self-help basis to help refugees become economically independent.

Raising Awareness:

International Days are celebrated in refugee villages to increase community awareness and understanding.

Supporting Youth and Children:

Programs are designed to offer constructive activities for women, girls, and youth, and to protect unaccompanied and separated minors from exploitation and abuse.

Extending Programs:

The CDU extends its community-based protection activities to urban areas throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), in coordination with UNHCR.

Training and Involvement:

Training is provided to male and female committees, and community members participate in polio vaccination campaigns, sports competitions, and international day celebrations.
