The Afghan Refugee Cricket League 2024, concluded its fifth season on December 27, 2024, with a thrilling final match between Bannu and Nowshera teams. The grand event, held at Islamia College, Peshawar drew significant attention highlighting the role of sports in fostering unity and resilience among Afghan refugees and host communities.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was the honorable Minister for SAFRON Engr. Amir Muqam joined by the Secretary SAFRON, Chief Commissioner for Afghan Refugees and Commissioner for Afghan refugees, KP, whose presence added prestige to the event.

The Minister lauded the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR), KP for their dedicated efforts in organizing such an inclusive and empowering initiative. He emphasized the importance of providing platforms like these to nurture talent, build confidence and strengthen social cohesion.

In the final match, the Bannu team won the championship title with an outstanding performance. The ceremony celebrated the league’s success with trophies and awards given to both the winning and runner-up teams.

This season of the Afghan Refugee Cricket League, a collaboration between CAR- KP, GIZ and UNHCR, once again underscored its mission to promote social harmony and empower young talent within refugee and host communities. The league, initiated in 2018, continues to inspire hope and resilience, demonstrating the collective strength of communities working together.
